Hanging wallpaper is a trade, not a weekend job. Patterns have to match across every drop, walls have to be prepared properly, and the difference between a good job and a bad one shows at the seams for the next ten years. We've been doing it for three decades.

What actually happens in your room
Most installs are done in a day. Larger jobs and difficult walls take longer, and we'll tell you which yours is before we start.

We check the wall
Before anything comes out of the bag, we look at what we're hanging onto — damp, cracks, old paper, previous paint. Anything that would show through gets flagged to you there and then.

Hang and match
Each drop is hung to a true vertical rather than to the wall itself, since very few walls are square. Every one is matched to the last before it's smoothed down.

Prep and protect
Floors and skirtings covered, surfaces filled and sanded where needed, then primed so the paper bonds evenly instead of lifting in patches later.

Trim, seam and finish
Edges trimmed at skirtings, cornices, sockets and switches. Seams rolled and any adhesive wiped before it dries. This is the part people notice.

Measure and cut the drops
Every roll is checked for batch number and cut to length with the pattern repeat accounted for. This is where wastage is won or lost, which is why it's done carefully rather than quickly.

Clear up and walk it
Room put back as we found it, then we walk the wall with you seam by seam. Offcuts get labelled with the batch number and left with you for future repairs.

The wall cleared — pictures, shelves, mirrors and their fixings taken down
Furniture moved away from the wall, or we'll move it and cover it
Access to a power point and water if needed
Somewhere to park, and access arranged if it's a complex or estate
Someone home at the start and end — the walkthrough needs you there
